Here's My Life Hack: Using the Simplest Methods to Solve the Hardest Problems

159

Opening Thoughts

To be honest, I can't help but laugh whenever I see those so-called "life hacks" online. Things like "organize your desk in one second" or "master storage in three minutes" sound impressive, but they rarely work well in practice. After years of trial and error, I've come to realize that the methods that truly solve problems are often so simple that they're hard to believe.

Take me for example - my journey from being clueless about life to becoming a "semi-functioning adult" wasn't achieved through any magical tricks, but through methods that seem particularly slow, basic, and old-fashioned. While these methods might not be elegant and might even seem foolish, they've helped me solve many seemingly unsolvable problems.

The Simple Method

Last year's moving experience really showed me the power of "simple methods." I had rented a new place and was preparing to move from my old home. When I stood in my room looking at the mountain of stuff, I felt completely overwhelmed.

The books were nearly breaking the shelves, clothes were bursting out of the closet, and various collections and mementos occupied every corner of the room. I clearly remember sitting on the floor, looking at everything, feeling like I was trapped in a maze.

Online advice suggested "minimalism," but no one explained exactly how to achieve it. I tried to clean everything at once, but after a full day's work, the room was even messier than before. Just when I was about to give up, I thought of an extremely simple approach: don't rush to clean, first categorize everything.

So I spent three whole days doing just one thing: categorizing. I held each item in my room, carefully considered its frequency of use and importance, and sorted everything into four categories. The first category was "essentials" - things I couldn't live without, like my laptop that I use daily, frequently worn clothes, and basic necessities.

Conclusion

Writing this, I suddenly noticed an interesting phenomenon: the methods that truly solve problems are rarely sophisticated techniques, but rather extremely simple, basic practices. Like the "simple methods," "slow methods," "basic methods," "lazy methods," and "foolish methods" I've shared - they all have one thing in common: they're so simple they require almost no technical skill.

Yet these simple methods helped me solve life's most challenging problems. This made me realize that the key to solving problems isn't about how sophisticated the method is, but whether you're willing to persist with it. It's like running - what matters isn't your high-tech running shoes, but whether you can stick to running every day.

Looking back on these years, I increasingly feel that many seemingly complex problems in life can actually be solved with the simplest methods. The key is having the courage to try these seemingly foolish methods, the patience to persist with seemingly slow approaches, the wisdom to discover seemingly basic tricks, the boldness to use seemingly lazy techniques, and the determination to practice seemingly silly habits.

There really are no unsolvable problems in the world - we just haven't found the simple enough method yet. As Einstein said: "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler." Maybe this is the ultimate secret to problem-solving.

So here's the question: What problems in your life seem difficult but could actually be solved with simple methods? Or do you have any particularly simple but effective life hacks you'd like to share? Welcome to tell me in the comments, and let's use the simplest methods to solve the hardest problems together.
